Sixth Class

Sixth class were very busy creating Tim Burton inspired artwork for Halloween.

We also completed our recount writing pieces about our autumn scavenger hunt. These are on display on our classroom writing wall.

The children also completed a project based on the theme of the European Union to celebrate 50 years of its existence. We are very proud of their efforts and their projects are now on display outside our classroom.

In maths we have been learning about data and how to organise and present information in a variety of ways. We used digital technology to display some of our findings in our class surveys.

In SESE we have been learning about rocks and how they are formed. As well as creating our own rocks using chocolate we made a class display of our most important and useful findings.

November & December 2021

The children in 6th class brought some items of sentimental value into school. We had great fun discussing the importance of these items with each other and why they are special to us. It was a great way to include some oral reporting into our class while working on written reports too.

We spent some time reading a story called ‘The Best Part of Me’ and then used it as inspiration for a photography project. We thought about the part of our bodies that is unique and special to us and wrote about it as well as photographing it for our classroom display.

We have been busy preparing for Christmas and took part in the ‘Give a poem, Get a Poem’ project where we wrote Christmas poems and shared them with some other schools in neighbouring counties.

A hippopotamus visited our classroom this term to hear us sing our Christmas song 'I want a hippopotamus for Christmas'. He was a great distraction from the hard work.

We also created a Christmas display about all of the things that bring us joy at this time of year.

Sixth Class Joy

Sixth class would like to wish everyone a very, very happy Christmas.

We wish you a merry Christmas

 September & October 2021

In sixth class, we designed our own motivational posters. They are on display in our classroom and remind us of how we should treat others and how having a positive attitude can impact our learning.

For Halloween, we created some bat artwork using oil pastels. It was messy, but a lot of fun. We also made pumpkins using clay and used these to decorate our classroom.
